Ever wondered about leading trends and why certain ideas can be well received and be shared virally?

I recently saw a transformation taking place within the No. 1 ranked social networking site that many of us are familiar and know called Facebook. Of course it started with noticing a few cartoon images appearing, and then the numbers began to increase with familiar animated characters invading the Facebook newsfeed.

tweety bird Leading Trends And Being A Leader Of course, there is wonder as to the reason or purpose for such a transition from the predominantly people photos versus animated characters that have been connected to that carefree era from childhood memories.  It becomes more evident with information available on this topic that the purpose for this among leading trends on this popular social media site is with good intentions for bringing awareness of the rampant abhorrence of child abuse.

With much admiration for creating a trend with a purpose, it is quite similar to how one action can start a pattern, and eventually create a duplication of the intended idea.  Quite frequently, leading businesses or leading online marketing requires a vision with a purpose.  Leading trends like this can materialize if only the idea and actions stay focused on the direct intent.

Just as the idea to create and bring attention and awareness of violence against children with the trend of changing the Facebook profile pictures, it all begins with one leader with a thought that comes into the leader’s mind.  It is a planting of that seed that will germinate and if properly given attention, will grow progressively.  All too often, with relentless effort, the idea will and can produce a rippling domino effect.

Similarly to the trend of changing profile pictures to cartoon characters on Facebook, here is a prime example of leadership lessons of what can happen when a leader takes that initial step to take action in doing what others may not choose to initiate.  Regardless of the details or the circumstances with this particular illustration, it just takes one person with courage to take action.

The question that we all can ask ourselves while leading businesses or leading online marketing is when we see an idea, do we fully carry it out as we see it in our vision?   Would we or are we willing to stand out to courageously take that step, or would we rather choose to blend among the majority within a crowd?

We all have individual strengths in interacting with people and we are reminded in Romans 12:8:

If we can encourage others, we should encourage them. If we can give, we should be generous. If we are leaders, we should do our best. If we are good to others, we should do it cheerfully.

Have a wonderful and fulfilling day.

Nelly..my blog is specifically on leadership and your post is right on target. Leaders take a stand for what they believe in. Having vision and communicating that vision in a manner that others can understand and rally around is a huge component of leadership
