As it is countdown for all of the seasonal events on our calendar, reality sets in as to how we are handling all of the activities of holiday decorating, gatherings, shopping, cooking and partying.
Time is moving faster than some of us can actually keep up. Why is it that we want to do more than we can normally take care or accomplish? Why is it that we allow stresses and demands of those activities upon ourselves? Why is it that this time of year has become so enamored with the brilliant lights and commercial attention that is and has always been the highlight for the retail industry? Why do we do what we do?
Perhaps we have to pause for a moment and take a little break to refocus on our actions. Before we get too overwhelmed with our calendar, remember that there is a season and a time to think and thank and treasure.
Remember what Christmas is all about: sharing your faith and sharing your love with others. It is not about focusing on all the other things or activities that we do for it. It is the birth of Jesus Christ for whom we were given as Savior. After all, Christ being born is God’s gift to all of us. “Christ” as you can see, is already in this named celebrated event we all know as Christmas. He was born a little baby, modestly wrapped in swaddling clothes, and waiting upon who wants to receive Him as King.
Isn’t it very contrasting to acknowledge a very humble birth in a stable on a calm and silent night that is recognized as Christ’s birthday on one hand with the flurry of the commercial glitz and activities that can be chaotic at times on the other?
Suggestions to Consider for The Holiday Season
While we are in the midst of this holiday season, here are a few suggestions from CBN News’ “How to Avoid Stressing Out During the Holidays” to consider:
• Make two lists: the “Must Dos” and the “Would Like to Dos.”
• If “it” is not done by a certain point in time, let it go.
Basically, five tips to relieve holiday stress:
1. Do Less
2. Simplify
3. Slow Down
4. Exercise
5. Get Enough Sleep
As we are also reminded, Philippians 4:8 reads:
Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
May you have a joyful day and if you know of those who may be encouraged here, kindly please comment below, retweet and share with others too.
